Jesus called and our sweet, wonderful sister, Jean answered on June 9, 2014 at her home. All who knew Jean will remember her with her "beautiful smile" and her kindness she always showed to others and by saying "I Love You."

Norma Jean Carpenter & George Earl Ledbetter married June 30, 1973 in Hawkins County, TN.
She retired from Tennessee Eastman Company after 40 plus years with the company. Jean was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Mount Carmel for 70 plus years where she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She also enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, George Ledbetter; parents, Drew and Julia Carpenter; brother, J.W. Carpenter; brother-in-law, Bob Bennett; and sisters-in-law, Jean (Ledbetter) Sheldon and Lucy Ledbetter.

Survivors include four sisters, Gladys (Herman) McAninch, Noonie Bennett, Patsy (Jerry) Byerley, and Frances (Bill) Whitmore; nieces/nephews, Jalana (Todd) Jennings, Julie Rose (Mike) Wilson, Scott (Suzanne) Byerley, Stoney (Tammy) McAninch, Brent Whitmore, and Kim Walton and Kristi Madison; great-nieces/nephews, Nicole, Drew and Celeste Byerley, Kinsley and Kade Jennings, Courtney Rose Wilson, Haylee McAninch, Bailee Brook Walton and Piper Whitmore; Ledbetter families – Mae, Delno, Kenneth, Wayne and LouAnn.

Per Jean's request, there will be a graveside service on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm at McCulley Cemetery with the eulogy by Scott Byerley. Music will be provided by the Lighthouse Quartet.

Pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the home of her sister, Frances Whitmore.
