Born June 1st, 1937, in Sumter SC, she was the daughter of the late Samuel & Louise Henderson. In 1954, she became a military wife and traveled with her husband before returning to Sumter where she was a supervisor at Madison Industries for many years. She was an active member of the First Church of God in Sumter and thoroughly enjoyed serving the Lord.
Lib was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to all who knew her. She took great pride in her grandchildren and was a constant supporter of their activities from attending dance recitals and swim meets to softball, baseball and football games. She cherished the memories of, and looked forward to, the annual family vacation spent at Garden City Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years; her children, Whitley Stokes, Jr. and his wife Susan of Greenville and Terry Stokes Ingram and her husband Chris of Sumter; grandchildren, Tabitha Stokes Carey and her husband John of Jacksonville, FL, Taylor Stokes of Greenville, Delaney, Logan and Dayton Ingram of Sumter; one great-grandchild, Morlee Carey of Jacksonville, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur, W.A. and Lloyd Henderson, and sister, Lavinia Johnson, all of Sumter.
Visitation will be Friday evening, June 13th, from 6:00 to 8:00 at Bullock Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Terry Stokes Ingram, 2960 Hermitage Drive, Sumter.
Services will be officiated by Ron Bower at Bullock Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 am with burial immediately following at Sumter Cemetery.
Pallbeares will be, John Carey, Chris Ingram, Dayton Ingram, Logan Ingram, Tracy Inman and Lee Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Roddy Henderson, Sandy Henderson and Warren "Dubby" Henderson.
