He was educated in the schools of Hartford & Suffield, Ct. He taught school several terms and came to Ludlow as a teacher. He married and settled in the west part of town. He served as assesor, moderator of town meetings, and two terms in the legislature. He was Deacon in the Congregational church for about 50 years. He married, 29 April 1829, Hannah Danforth Charles.
