He died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.
Born May 19, 1917, in Fleming County, he was the son of the late Grover and Lorena Hysong Art.
He was a farmer and had taught 36 years in the Garrard County school system. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture and was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church and Paint Lick Sportsman's Club. He was the widower of Ruth Snyder Art.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Douglas Art of Paint Lick, Robert Parker Art of Lexington and Grover Preston Art of Walton; four sisters, Pauline Lanham of Lexington, Louise Throckmorton of Cowan, Imogene Thomas of Maysville and Martha Marshall of Monterey, Calif.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Gene Art.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Friday.
