He had been a cook at the Hotel Lewis-Clark in Lewiston, Idaho and at Nampa, Idaho. At the time of his death at age 52, he was the head chef at North Shore Lodge, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Karl was married on August 31, 1939 to Eva Mae Waite, and they had two children, Kay Earlene (1942) and James Karl (1946) Earnest, and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Karl and Eva were divorced in 1954.
Karl was a grandson of America Holton (Thompson) & Daniel Ayres Baker of Colfax, Washington; a gr-grandson of Mary Elizabeth (Ford) & Capt. Joseph Moran Thompson of Wabash, Indiana; and a gr-gr-grandson of Dr. James & America (Holton) Ford of Wabash, Indiana.
