Son of Dixie Miller & Rose Lillian Cardwell Loy
LOY, CHARLES (BUD) - age 71, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2014, after a courageous battle with leukemia. His loving family was at his side as he entered the kingdom of Heaven. Bud spent 71 years enjoying life and spending time with loving friends and family. Bud was a friend to all and was loved and admired by everyone who knew him. Throughout his entire life he enjoyed camping and fishing, motorcycle riding, boating, and spending time around any body of water. What we will remember most was Bud's strong work ethic, solid character, good sense of humor, and loyalty to friends and loved ones. He was born on January 8, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama, to loving parents, Dixie and Rose Loy. He graduated from Holston Hills High School in 1961. He began work for the United States Postal Service in 1961 where he worked for 30 years. He retired in 1991 and was able to enjoy a full and adventurous retirement until his death. Preceded in death by father, Dixie Loy; mother, Rose Cardwell Loy; sister, Becky Loy; and loving wife, Marilynn Justice Loy. Bud is survived by his step daughter, Denna DeMarcus Grogan of Knoxville; son-in-law and devoted friend, Don Grogan; and granddaughter, Kacie Grogan of Knoxville; daughter, Teresa Lovell of Knoxville; son-in-law, Allen Lovell; and granddaughters, Lynsa and Brittney of Knoxville and Maryville; nephew, Tracey Day of Georgia; and grand nieces, Rebecca and Rachel Day of Georgia; sister, Madge Loy Day of Knoxville; and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, June 12th, from 5:00 - 7:00 at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home at 2300 W. Adair Drive Knoxville, TN 37918. There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 13th, at 2:00 at Lynnhurst Cemetery. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Max Reddick of Fountain City Presbyterian Church.
