Funeral services for Almond Harris (Harry) Brown, Kanab, who died at Phoenix, Arizona, January 15, were held Tuesday afternoon, January 18, at the L.D.S. chapel here. Melvin S. Haycock officiated and parts given included opening songs "Guide Me To Thee" and "Rock of Ages," which were rendered by the choir. Prayer was given by Jullius S. Dalley.

Speakers at the services included Z.K. Judd, Jacob Crosby and President Charles C. Heaton.

Mrs. Mattie J. Tietjen and Mrs. Belle L. Rust sang "Home on the Range"; George Brinkerhoff sang "I Have Read of A Beautiful City," accompanied by the choir. Ray B. Young rendered a beautiful violin solo. The closing song was "O' My Father" and benediction was given by Joseph S. Johnson.

In remarks made, reference to Mr. Brown's boy hood days and how he had excelled in racing and other athletic games, his love for children and his life on the range.

Almond Harris Brown was born at Kanab January 5, 1873. He was the son of Pioneers Joseph Gurnsey and Lovina Manhart Brown. He spent his boyhood in Kanab, but about 1900, with his brothers William and Ebenezer Brown, went to Wyoming, where he resided for twelve years. He returned to Kanab in 1913 and soon became engaged in the livestock business. He spent much of his time at House Rock and at the Sand Hills in northern Arizona, where his cattle ranged.

Some time ago he went to Phoenix to improve his health, while there he was taken ill with pneumonia and after being in the hospital for sometime his condititon improved and he left, but a short later, he had a relapse, from which he died Saturday, January 15.

Mr. Brown never married but he is survived by three brothers and two sisters and four half brothers and two half sisters. His brothers and sisters are John F. and William M. Brown, Della B. Hamblin and Nellie B. Robinson of Kanab and David J. Brown of Kemmer, Wyoming. Half brothers and sisters are Isaac O. Brown and James A. Brown of Kanab, Lucy B. Johnson of Tucson, Arizona, Jennie B. Stewart of Montpelier, Idaho, and Wilma Brown of Los Angeles, California.
