Edith Barbara Rath- Lane, former Ponca City area resident, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was 77 years.

Edith was born July 19, 1934, in Blackwell, the daughter of Carl and Edna Root Rath.

She attended school in Braman to the fourth grade, then moved to Ponca City and attended the old Garfield School. She graduated from Ponca City High School and then attended St. Joseph Nursing School.

Barbara is survived by her children, Shawn and Rocky; six grandchildren; five great-grandsons; three sisters, Ruth Thompson of Ponca City, Joanie Oswald of Enid and Carla Clingman of Michigan; two brothers, Johnny Rath of Covington, Oklahoma and Dewey Rath of Ponca City; one half sister, Myrtle Ann Burrows; one half brother, Robert George; and several nieces and nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and three sisters; Nancy Craft, Elizabeth Grace and Mary Reed.

A memorial service will be held at 3p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at Bressie Cemetery, south of Ponca City.
