Darrel Wayne Hudson, 72, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on Dec. 7, 1941, in Coweta, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Nora Hudson. Darrel received his bachelor's degree in education from St. Mary's University in San Antonio. He was married to Gail Grimes in 1974.

He served his country honorably for over 20 years as a member of the Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in numerous other locations including Turkey, England and Japan, as well as numerous stateside assignments.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and only son Steven Wayne Hudson. He is survived by his wife, Gail; two daughters, Misty Hudson and Debra Tatum; two sisters, Sondra Kyker and Phyllis Hughes; and one brother, Leslie Hudson. Darrel is also survived by six grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Patrick, Sean, Mark and Leti. He had two great-grandchildren, Richard and River. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; as well as lifelong friend George Bowlin of Claremore, Oklahoma.

Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
