Professor William C. Herrmann was a member of the faculty of Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin. He was born in Greenville, Wisconsin on June 17, 1870. After graduating from Northwestern College in 1895, and finishing his theological course in 1899, he served congregations in Chicago, Illinois and Fairburn, Wisconsin until 1906.

After three years of graduate study at the University of Chicago in Latin and Indo-Germanic linguistics, Professor Herrmann became the first president of Luther Institute in Chicago, and retained that position until called to Northwestern College in Watertown in 1927 as a professor of Latin and English. He also served the institution as the orchestra director, and was a member of Watertown's board of library commissioners.

A man of genial wit and sound knowledge, he knew how to make his classroom a cheerful workshop. He was a favorite of the students, and his loss as a valuable member of the college faculty was keenly felt.

Professor Herrmann was survived by his wife Lydia, sons Arnold, and Wilbert, and daughters Naomi Engelbrecht, and CordeliaThomas.

Funeral services were held at Saint Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown. Wisconsin.
