Mr. Bennett was born June 17, 1937 in Newellton to Jesse James and Neoma Louise Arnold Bennett and passed from this life on June 6, 2014 at Promise Hospital in Vidalia.
Mr. Bennett loved to spend time with his grandchildren, playing baseball, watching the New Orleans Saint and LSU football games. He enjoyed working for the church and delivering plate lunches to the elderly of the church and the nursing home.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son; James Michael Bennett, one granddaughter Stormi Ober.
He survived by his wife of 36 years Loreta Bennett of Winnsboro; children: Sherri Gatlin of West Monroe, Tammie Bennett of Winnsboro, Tony King of Monroe, Brenda Hotard and husband Shawn of Ponchatoula, Mary Anderson and husband Robert of Ruston and Donovan Bennett and wife Crystal of West Monroe; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one sister Joan Walters of Calhoun; one brother Ricky Bennett of Mesquite, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Robert Anderson, Donovan Bennett, Derek Earl, Eddie Earl, David Kilpatrick, Will Ober, Dusty Ward, and Roger Ward.
