Sarah Susan Rice of Arlington, Washington, or "Sadie" to all those who knew and loved her, transitioned to the next stage of her spiritual life while at home on Friday, June 6, 2014. Born in 1963, Sadie grew up in Bozeman, Montana, but settled in Washington after attending the University of Washington School of Law.

She worked for years as a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem, advocating for the interests of children in contested court proceedings. Hundreds of children in Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, and King Counties benefited from Sadie's diligent and caring work on their behalf.
In recent years, Sadie devoted her time to being a wonderful mom to her two children, Lucas Revelle and Amy Revelle; a loving partner to her husband, Tim Allen; and a devoted caretaker to an ongoing brood of horses, dogs, and cats. In addition to attending and supporting any activity involving Amy or Lucas, she especially loved working in her garden, keeping meticulous notes of what plants grew best in which seasons and soils.

Sadie ultimately succumbed to breast cancer, but in the midst of that struggle continued to bring love and light to her family and friends, with unyielding grace. She was an inspiration to all whose lives she touched, and will be deeply missed.

Sadie is survived by her children and husband; her father George Rice Jr., step-mom Nan Rice, brother George Rice III, sister Catharine Rice, and niece Alison Gauthier, all of Bozeman, Montana; and niece Margaret Gauthier of Vancouver, BC.

Memorial service to be announced and held at a later date. Any donations may be made in Sadie's memory to Northwest Organization for Animal Help (NOAH) of Stanwood, Washington, 360-629-7055, where Sadie volunteered.
