From New Cambria Leader, 8 March 1951: Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Jones celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Sunday, March 4, at their home, 215 Weller Street. They have lived at their present address for 39 years, moving to Macon from New Cambria 40 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Jones were married in 1886. She is the former Miss Hannah Siemens, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ellert Siemens.
Their two children, Mrs. John D. Whiteis and Vincel G. Jones both of Macon were born on the farm near New Cambria.
A native of Wales, Mr. Jones was born in Llenglamtheiath, September 19, 1867, and came to this country in 1885 at the age of 18 to care for an aged uncle and aunt who lived near New Cambria. He was the oldest of 12 children and has three sisters and one brother still living in Wales, one brother John E Jones of Okulgee, Oklahoma and a sister Mrs. Onno Siemens, New Cambria.
Mrs. Jones was born in New Cambria on August 10, 1871, and is the only surviving member of her family.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Jones lived on a farm near New Cambria where their children were born. Later they moved to Lingo where Mr. Jones worked in the mine. While living in that community, they were a part of the small group headed by the late Rev. Alfred Munyon who built the first Protestant church in that district. Mr. Jones served as a board member and the Sunday School superintendent and Mrs. Jones was the organist and a teacher.
They again had the privilege of assisting Rev. Munyon for they helped to erect the First Christian Church in Macon. Again Mr. Jones served as a board member and Mrs. Jones was active in the ladies organization of the church.
A stone mason by trade, the last work of that kind which Mr. Jones has done was the building of the Fower Airport, south of Macon where when he was 80 years of age. One of the big thrills of his life came when Charlie Fower gave him his first airplane ride upon the completion of his work on the building.
Having retired from stone masonry, Mr. Jones devotes all of his time to his home and garden. Last September, Mrs. Jones suffered a slight stroke and has been confined to her bed most of the winter. Only the immediate relatives attended the celebration. Bio info from Find A Grave contributor EB Williams
