From a 1900 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, publication date unknown, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Died, May 31, 1900 at his home on Horse Creek [12 miles west of Fullerton per another clipping], James E.Cunningham. For over three years the deceased had been a sufferer from cancer, so great that nobody but his God and those who have passed through a similar affliction will ever know. Yet through it all he was patient and uncomplaining, possessed of the faith that the "Father doeth all things well," and leaving the blessed assurance that he was only going home, for which he often longed.

Mr. Cunningham was born at West Warren, Penn., August 19, 1850. He came with his parents to Kane county, Ill., in 1854, and in 1868 moved to Loda, Ill.

He was married December 2, 1880 to Mary Kelley. They came to Fullerton, Nebr., February 22, 1889.

The deceased leaves an aged mother, who lives in Fullerton, three sisters, two brothers, a wife and six children to mourn his death. The funeral services were held last Friday conducted by Rev. Stimsom of North Star.
