Passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Missouri Veteran's Home, St. James.
Mr. Mitchell, son of the late Harold Mitchell and wife Florence nee Miner was born November 8, 1927 in St. Louis.
Mr. Mitchell served his country in the United States Army from April 1946 to June 1960 receiving rank Sargent E5. His Citations include: VA-Civil Service 1960-1974, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with BZ/CL W 3 Lps, World War II Victory Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star. Overseas service include: Korea, Germany, Philippines and Okinawa.
He was a faithful member of St. Clair Southern Baptist Church and member of the American Legion, St. Clair.
He was very active with the Senior Center in St. Clair and volunteered his time to help with anything he could help with.
Jesse was well liked by anyone he meet and had a great personality.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Opal Mitchell and one sister, Agnes Travis.
He is survived by two sisters, Lourine Mitchell of St. Clair and Darlene Pendleton of O'Fallon, Missouri; many nieces; many nephews; other relatives and many friends.
