Glenn William Wheeler, 90 of Vernon Center, passed away June 9, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems- Mankato.

Glenn was born on September 3, 1923 in Exira, Iowa, to William and Valborg (Jensen) Wheeler. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1941. Glenn served with the United States Army in the Philippines during WWII. Glenn started Wheeler Cabinet Shop, utilizing his woodworking and carpentry skills to create custom cabinets, church pews, furniture, and other creations. Glenn also built many fine homes.

On January 30, 1965, Glenn married Patricia Boily at the Basilica in Minneapolis, MN. They lived in Vernon Center where Glenn grew up and continued his construction and woodworking business. He passed along his skills and artistry to all of his children, especially his sons, who worked along-side their father in the woodworking shop and on construction sites. Glenn also enjoyed gardening, playing the accordion, fishing, restoring Model T cars, listening and dancing to polka music, working with his saw mill, as well as annual trips with his sons and son-in-law to the Iola, Wisconsin car show. Glenn was a past member of the VFW and American Legion.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Pat, and brother, Richard, both of Vernon Center; children, Scott Wheeler of Mankato, Beth (Mark) Liebenow of Plainview, and Stuart (Oksana) Wheeler of West Concord; three granddaughters, Amber and Jasmine Liebenow, and Katerina Wheeler; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff (Eloise) Boily of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Jim (Delores) Boily of La Jolla, California, and Joyce Boily of Carlton, Minnesota, along with nieces and nephews.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Glyde Wheeler; and brother-in-law, Jack Boily.

A private funeral service will be held on June 11, 2014 at Lake Crystal Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Vernon Center Cemetery.
