Ella H. Schmidt, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh on Monday evening, February 27, 2012, on the eve of her 93rd. birthday.

She was born February 28, 1919 in the Town of Newton, Marquette County, the daughter of Gustav A. and Maria (Thiel) Petrich.

She married Harvey W. Schmidt on May 1, 1943. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1999.

Ella was baptized, confirmed in 1934 and married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Newton. She worked at the former Wautoma Hotel and for the Chicago Pickle Co. in Wautoma. Later, she was employed for many years at Realist in Berlin.

After her retirement, her love for children and caring for them kept her busy. Ella was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.

She is survived by one son, Paul D. Schmidt, Oshkosh; one daughter, Rosemary (Leroy) Keller, Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Heather (Rob) Resop, Angela (Kevin) Rust, and Tammy Keller (special friend Jeff and his daughter Tava); two great grandchildren, Nicholas Rust and Katelyn Resop; one sister, Alma Schmitt, Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Cathy Schmidt, Berlin. She is further survived by many cherished relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Olga Gerer, Edna Mlados; one brother, Martin Petrich.

Ella's family wishes to thank Evergreen, especially the Staff at Creekview North, for their wonderful care and kind services.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 338 N. Eagle St., Oshkosh with Rev. David Pagel officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Richford Cemetery, Town of Richford, Waushara County. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and on Saturday at the Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. A Memorial is being established.

Ella truly loved Her Lord, now she is in Her Father's house in one of the many mansions He has prepared for Her.
