James W. Corbitt (1864–1938) was born in Oct. 1864 in Illinois. His father, John Corbitt (1824-1871), was 40 and his mother, Mary E. 'Conley' Corbit (1830-1911), was 34.
James W. married Casanna Belford, Corbitt (1868-1950) on October 28, 1884, in Pope, Illinois. To this marriage, five children were born, two who passed early in life, Lela Mae at the age of two years, Ruby Edith, age abt six years (1894–1900?). Bertha Ann 'Corbit' Penninger (1885–1970), James Roy (1890–1944), Mary Velma 'Corbit' Calhoun (1904–1993).
Cass Ann and James moved to Union Co. where he spent the rest f his entire life. James was a farmer, owning his own land.
James W. Corbitt died in 1938 in Lick Creek, Illinois, at the age of 74, and was buried Ebenezer Hall Cemetery, Lick Creek, Union County, Illinois, Lick Creek, Union County, Illinois, USA.
