From The Holt County Sentinel-December 16, 1898:
"Died, December 2, 1898, at the home of her parents, 1 1/2 miles northwest of Nodaway, after an illness of four weeks, Alta Arvilla, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Adams. Arvilla was born in Atchison County, Missouri in 1888, and was 10 years, 6 months, and 18 days of age at the time of death.
Mr. Adams and family moved her from College Springs, Iowa last spring, and although they had been here but for a short time, Arvilla had made many friends, who loved her dearly. She leaves a father, mother, and two sisters, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn her early death.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams accompanied the remains of their dear one to College Springs, Iowa on the 4th, the funeral taking place on Tuesday, December 5, 1898."
