The son of the late William and Elizabeth Fleckenstein Cleary, he was born Sept. 7, 1925 in Ellenville.
He was a communicant of the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew in Ellenville. Mr. Cleary was a Navy veteran of WW II.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Irwin Cleary at home; two sons, Michael Cleary and wife Charliene of Panama City, Fla., Richard Cleary of Lexington, N.C.; one daughter, Patricia VanSleet and husband John of Portsmouth, Va.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by an infant son, James Cornelius Cleary; brothers Cornelius and Raymond and a sister, Florence Sheeran.
Friends may call at the Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., 79 N. Main St., Ellenville on Wednesday, January 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 26 at the Church of St. Mary and St. Andrew, Rt 209 in Ellenville.
Burial will be in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Albany.
Arrangements are by the Loucks Funeral Home, Inc."
