Daughter of Thomas A. & Lavonne Harrenstein Kruse

Suzanne Stephens, 46, of Waterloo, died on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Covenant Medical Center, from complications following surgery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 18, at the Cedar Valley Community Church in Waterloo, with burial in the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the services on Wednesday. The Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Alternatives for Women Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Suzanne was born on June 28, 1959 in Hampton, daughter of Thomas A. and Lavonne Harrenstein Kruse. She married Dan Stephens on March 20, 1982 in Iowa Falls. She graduated from the Iowa Falls High School, received a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Christian Psychology from the Carolina Christian University.

Suzanne was a strong and vibrant person, with compassion for serving the Lord and those around her. Sue was a loving and committed wife and mother of three children who loved the Lord, and was "Mom" to many more in her life.

She had a tremendous passion for serving others through activities such as the Christmas and Easter productions at the Cedar Valley Community Church, youth group, Alternatives for Women Crisis Pregnancy Center, and demonstrating incredible compassion for individuals in need. Because of her humility in service, people will never fully realize the personal impact she has had on many lives around the world. She accomplished some amazing things during her time on this earth, yet we know the angels are rejoicing with her today as she has gone home to be with Jesus.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Crissa of Washington, D.C. and Cady of Marion, Indiana; one son, Nikolas at home; her parents of Iowa Falls; sister, Lisa Kruse of Seattle, Washington; brother, T.J. Kruse of Iowa Falls; nephew, Jackson Kruse of Omaha, Nebraska; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Pat Stephens of Iowa Falls.
