ARCHIE BAUGNIET

Archie Baugniet of 1607 18th St., Two Rivers, a retired veteran rural mail carrier, serving Rt. 2, Two Rivers, died unexpectedly at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital at 8 p.m. Monday where he was a patient two hours. He was 65.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, the Rev. Herman J. Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Baugniet was born Jan. 6, 1893, in the Town of Mishicot, son of the late Fred and Marcella LaPlante Baugniet, among the earliest settlers in the area. He was graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 1909.

For two years Mr. Baugniet attended the Manitowoc County Normal School at Manitowoc. In 1913 he went to Oshkosh were he took a course at a telegraphy school after which he took a position at the Chicago & North Western Railway Co. station at Wabeno. After a year at Wabeno he returned to assist his father on the farm and Sept. 7, 1914, he married Julia Yana of Kellnersville at Mishicot. He then went to Francis Creek to operate the C.J. Hessel feed mill and a short time later returned to the homestead farm. After working later on the Emil Lorenz farm at Francis Creek he became a rural mail carrier in 1919, succeeding the late Charles Ahrens. He was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Luke church and various sportsmen clubs. On Nov. 1, 1857, he retired from the mail carrying post after 37 1/2 years of service.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Frank Kostka Jr. of Two Rivers; two sons, Daniel and Orrin of Two Rivers; three brothers, Fred of Francis Creek, Christ of Antigo and Frank of Mishicot, and nine grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral chapels after 2 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m.
