Dr. DuWayne R. Swenson, 63, died peacefully at his home on Saturday November 30, 1991.

He was born in Ogden, Utah on July 5, 1928, a son of Lloyd R. and Donna Wood Swenson. He married Bonnie J. Burnett June 23, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from Weber High School in 1946, andWeber College in 1950. He received his DDS degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and went on to recieve his post graduate specialty degree in Periodontics from Tufts University in Boston, Mass. He was a retired Air Force Colonel, served as Chief of Dental Services at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; Ramey Air Force Base, Puerto Rico; and Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he established dental programs for the people of American Samoa for two years. Dr. Swenson was a well respected and busy Periodontist with practices in Layton and Bountiful. Medical problems caused his retirement in 1989. He never considered his dental practices to be "work", and always had the utmost concern for his patients welfare. Keeping up to date on the latest medical and dental research was also important to him.

He was an active member of the American Dental Association, American Accademy of Periodontology, International Association of Dental Research, International Association of Cranio-Mandibular Orthopedics, the American Accademy for the Advancement of Science and the Utah and Weber District Dental Society. He had a keen interest in foreign languages, loved exotic foods and enjoyed traveling around the world.

He was an Elder in the the LDS Church, Taylor 1st Ward and had served as a Seminary teacher and Scout leader. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He particularly enjoyed his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
