Funeral services for Marilyn Goree Gay, age 75, of Gordon will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Gordon First Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Maxie Threatt and Rev. Paul Curry will officiate.
Mrs. Gay was born on June 17, 1938 in County Line, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late James Terrell and Beatrice "Datsy" Duckworth Goree. She has lived in Gordon since 1977. She earned her Secretarial Certificate from Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College in 1956 and 1957. An active member of Gordon First Baptist Church, Mrs Gay was the church pianist, a choir member, Sunday School Secretary, and served many years as Vacation Bible School Director. She owned and operated Evans Music Company in Macon and also taught piano lessons. Mrs. Gay passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon.
Mrs. Gay is survived by her loving husband, Billy Gay of Gordon, 3 children, Pamela (Robby) Glore of Lizella, Dennis (Lynn) Gay of Lincolnton, and Melinda (Gary) Latta of Summerville, a brother, David (Irene) Goree of Riverdale, 5 grandchildren, AC1U.S. Navy Lee (Stefanie) Anthony, Will (Laura) Gay, Rhett Anthony, Amanda Gay, and Wyatt Latta, 2 step grandchildren, Wesley (Karalee) Glore, PFC Taylor Glore, and 2 step great-grandchildren, Shelby Glore and Colt Glore.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Couey-Reece-Stanley Funeral Home.
