Rachel Louise Shelton Parker, age 87 of Columbia, formally of Nashville, passed away January 14, 2016 at NHC Columbia.

Rachel was born December 23, 1928 in Ethridge, Tennessee to John and Laura Jones Shelton. Rachel was widowed by her husband Charles Parker, who passed away June 8, 2013. Rachel lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed every moment of it. She was described as a “hoot” to be around and thrived to make sure everyone else around was smiling or laughing. Most importantly, Rachel loved her family and made sure they were always smiling and dancing.

The family will visit with friends Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. The Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Colleen Hargrove officiating.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Sheila Thompson of Columbia; daughter-in-law: Nan Chappell of McMinnville; grandchildren: Jennifer (Nabil) Kalifa, Angela Leigh (Jason) Crouch, and David Jeremy (fiancée, Beka Stanfield) Chappell; brother: George (Jean) Shelton; ; great grandchildren: Zaynab Kalifa, Ahlia Kalifa, Dawson Crouch, Jake Crouch, and Mayley Crouch. Rachel is preceded in death by her son, David William Chappell; son-in-law: Terry Thompson; sister: Hazel Williams; brothers: Ernest Shelton, Herbert Louie Shelton, and John Parker.
