Roger Dean Sweet, age 80, of Greenwood, FL passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the Marianna Health & Rehabilitation Center. Roger was born in Mattoon, Illinois on July 22, 1933. He worked many years for the Okeelanta Sugar Company as a farm manager before moving to Marianna in 1995 from Bell Glade, Florida and was a member of the Caverns Road Church of Christ. Roger found peace in serving the Lord and reading his Bible. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed bass fishing, gardening, and yard work.
Roger was preceded in death by his father William Sunday Sweet, his mother Helen Russell and step-father Hayden Russell. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife Vivian Sweet, a daughter Jeanette Justice, two brothers Wally Sweet, and Richard Lee Sweet.
He is survived by his sons Richard Sweet (Leatricia) of Belle Glade, FL, Bruce Sweet of Greenwood, FL and Roland Sweet (Holley) Greenwood, FL; his sister Mary Gourley, nine grandchildren Mark Dunaway, Scott Dunaway, Wendy Dunaway Hobbs, Lee Sweet, Lauren Sweet, Ashley Sweet, Caroline Sweet, Carson Sweet, Kennedy Sweet and six great-grandchildren.
Services for Roger will be held at 4:00 P.M on Friday, June 6, 2014 in the Caverns Road Church of Christ with Minister Tom Bowling officiating and Elder of the Congregation Jim Swails speaking. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. A time of remembrance will be held from 3:00 P.M. until time of service.
