Ivan Junior Craig, age 85, of Broad Run Village in Jane Lew, passed away on May 21, 2014 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston, following an extended illness.
Ivan was born in Gilmer County on Aug. 14, 1928: son of the late John and Lovie (Amos) Craig.
Ivan married Norma J. Craig on July 22, 1950 in Weston. They were happily married 64-years. Ivan is survived by his loving wife, Jean; son's, David (Jaqueline) of Baltimore, Md. and Richard Craig (Elizabeth) of Flowering Branch, Ga.; grandchildren. Shane, Brittany-Jo, Danny, Tiffany, Brandi, Angel, Dakota and Hunter; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ivan is preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Dowell.
Ivan was a loving husband, father and a veteran having served under the Army and Navy branches of the U.S. Military.
Ivan belong to the Scottish Rites, Mason and Bomi Shriner of Maryland. He served as director of the Senior Center in Baltimore, Md. and served in the Lewis County Senior Center.
He worked his lifetime as a CSX railroad engineer from which he retired.
Friends and family were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue in Weston on Saturday, May 24, from 3 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 25, at 2 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Toby Dukich. Interment followed services in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Jane Lew. Ivan will be buried with full Military Honors.
