February 27, 1956 ~ April 1, 2014
Terri "Kay" Mannon West, 58, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away from heart failure on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. She was born to John "Terry" and Bobbie Mannon on February 27, 1956 in Junction City, KS. Kay grew up in Las Cruces, NM with her older brother, Mike, and younger sister, Cindy. Growing up, the family belonged to a Jeep club, and would go on frequent off-road expeditions in the mountains. Kay was a member of the First Baptist Church in Las Cruces. She graduated from Mayfield High School in 1974, and attended New Mexico State University. She was a member of the sorority, Delta Zeta, where she made sisters for life. In the late 1970's, she moved to Leavenworth, WA and worked as a teller at Cashmere Valley Bank. In Leavenworth, she met her husband, Jerry West, they married February 16, 1980. Their first child, Michael, was born on November 25, 1981. The family then moved to Wenatchee, where their second child, Lisa, was born on May 14, 1984. Kay and Jerry owned and operated Wenatchee Valley Auto Freight from 1980 on. In 2004, Kay also began working at the Chelan County Courthouse in the Collection's Department.
Several hobbies kept Kay busy. She had a passion for gardening, and, when in better health, spent many hours tending to her yard and flowers. She was an avid reader, with one of her all-time favorite's being Angela's Ashes. Kay loved home decorating and design, watching HGTV, and often attending Open Houses for new design ideas. Antiquing was another one of her favorite pastimes. It was the hunt for the perfect "treasure" that put a sparkle in her eye. Although, what she truly "lived" for, was spending time with her family, friends, and dogs, chit-chatting the day away, and watching movies almost nightly with her daughter. She was best known for her wicked sense of humor, her positive outlook on life, her contagious laughter, her kindness, and her strength and courage in the face of life's challenges.
Kay is survived by her husband, Jerry; son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Marie; daughter, Lisa; parents, Terry and Bobbie; brother, Mike; sister, Cindy; and niece, Stephanie.
Kay's family would like to thank their family and friends for their continued support, kindness, and prayers during this time, as well as a thank you to her primary care physician, Dr. Toby Long, and the staff at Confluence Health.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Wenatchee City Cemetery. In honor of Kay's love for animals, donations may be made to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 55, Wenatchee, WA 98807 / 509-662-9577, Ext. 2, or at WenatcheeHumane.org. Arrangements are by Ward's Funeral Chapel.
