Julie Densmore Nelson, 68 of Gordonsville, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at her residence. Born January 27, 1946, in Charlottesville, she was a daughter of the late Clyde E. Morris and Laura Lee Morris. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Long Powell and husband, A.G. of Gordonsville; two sons, James Edward Shifflett and wife, Lesa of Grottoes, and George Shifflett and fiancee, Lisa Morris of Dyke; one brother, Billy William Wright of Richmond; one sister, Annie Mae Slattery of Gordonsville; nine grandchildren, James Key Brooke Densmore, Brittany Shifflett, Justin Long, Jesse Long, Ariel Powell, Scotty Morris, Chrissy Morris, Scott Morton, Tony Morton; and her best friend, Judy Drumheller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Waverly Eugene Brookman; one brother, Johnny Slattery; and a step son, Bobby Brookman. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday June 9, 2014, at New Beginnings PH Church in Barboursville with interment to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Pastor Shawn Edwards will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday evening, June 8, 2014, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville.
