Margaret Rebecca Hunter Killian, 91, of Prosperity, widow of James Lloyd Killian, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Hospice House of Rutherford County. Born on September 18, 1922, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Allen C. Hunter, Sr. and Lenora Boozer Hunter. She was retired from Damon International and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she was an active member of New Horizons. Mrs. Killian was a member of the Stoney Hill Community Center, a 4-H leader for many years, a member of D.A.V. and the Stoney Hill reporter for the Newberry Observer. She was a campaign worker for Strom Thurman and Butler Derrick. She is survived by a son, James Alvin (Carolyn) Killian of Union Mills, NC; daughters, Anita Faye (Anderson) Killian Higgins and Stella (Wallace) Hancock both of Prosperity; a sister, Dorothy Hunter (Lawrence) Shealy of Leesville; 9 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and 18 step-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Killian was predeceased by 5 brothers and 3 sisters. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 pm Monday, June 9, 2014 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm conducted by the Rev. Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127. Active pallbearers will be Charles Hancock, Andrew Kegley, Heyward Hancock, Joseph Kegley, Tony Hancock, Gary Higgins, Dylan Feagan and Caleb Hancock.
