Dale Edward McCauley, age 77, of Venice, Florida and formerly of North Manchester, Indiana, passed away on June 5, 2014. He was born on September 7, 1936 in Roanoke, Illinois. He graduated from Manchester College in 1960. Dale's favorite classes in high school were math and accounting and his favorite classes in college were math and physics. The love of those subjects led him to become a teacher. He began his career teaching high school for five years; then when he started teaching at Manchester College in 1965, he was the only faculty member with any computer background. He was director of computer services from 1968 through 1980, and he oversaw many changes and improvements at the college in relationship to computers. In addition to teaching, Dale also wrote software used by several departments of the college. Dale was a child at heart. He loved to play games, amusement park rides and build and fly radio controlled airplanes. He is survived by his loving wife Ann Katharyn (Miller) McCauley of Venice; they would have celebrated 21 years on June 12. He is also survived by his children Curtis McCauley of Middletown, OH, Janie (David) McCauley Meyers, Scott (Diane) McCauley of Fort Wayne, IN., 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. His "bonus" family Dawn (Ned) Thompson, Jimmy (Rose) Hile, Dwight (Tracy) Hile, Jason Hile. 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
