Matthew Curtis Doty passed away unexpectedly Thursday March 4, 2010, in Rockwall, Texas.

Matt was born the second of three sons to James A. and Florence F. Doty on June 29, 1955, in Portland. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Portland in 1973 and from the University of Oregon in 1987. On June 16, 1984, he married Cynthia Storms in Garfield, Wash. They had two children, Benjamin Matthew and Caroline Elizabeth.

Cindy and Matt were later divorced. He married Heidi Everson Jan. 16, 1999, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They had twin daughters, Rachael Marie and Hannah Elizabeth. Heidi and Matt later separated. In February 2008 Matt moved to Costa Rica to teach school. There he met his good friend and companion Cristina Salazar. Cristina and Matt moved to Texas in 2009.

He is survived by his mother, Florence of Galice; brothers, James (Jed) and John, both of Portland; his children, Benjamin and Caroline of Moscow, Idaho; and Rachael and Hannah of Clarkston, Wash.; companion, Cristina and her sons, John, Christopher and Tristyn of Rockwall.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Portland.
