Born the son of Michael Greiner and Catherine Pulcher, Edward was a member of the Detroit Council, the Knights of Columbus, and president of the Greiner Land Company. He was in charge of the zoo on Belle Isle for several years and served briefly as a fireman on Belle Isle. He married Maud G. Reilly in 1895. They had four children, Helen Elizabeth, John Edward, Reilly Michael, and Catherine Grace.
