Jacob "Jake" Gall was born in late 1853 in Ohio, the son of a German shoemaker.
He married Elizabeth Voegeli in 1897 and lived outside of Pittsburgh in Farmington, PA for several years. Moving with wife to Toledo, Ohio about 1911.
He worked as a shoemaker and helped his wife in her Doll Hospital, repairing and making dolls.
On the death of his wife in 1924 he remained in Toledo many years working on dolls and shoes, although he appears in the 1930 Census back in Pittsburgh as a widowed lodger.
