Birth: 2nd of two known children of Charles Harry Price and widow Jesse Virginia Ogden Carlat with two sons in Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri ~ older brother Charles H Price, jr, (1929-1930).
Census: 1940, age 9 Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri with parents, two older step-brothers & two older 1st cousins at 450 west Meyer boulevard, father a candy manufacturer.

"Charley" attended the Pembroke-Country Day School in Kansas City, Class of 1948, also the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri, Class of 1950, where I first met him. His collegiate education was obtained at the University of Missouri, where he, while home was in Long Beach, California, met his first wife Janice of Norwood, Missouri, married with their 1953 honeymoon in Hawaii. He reportedly served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1955. To his first marriage were born two children.
Following his discharge from the Air Force, "Charley" returned to Kansas City to begin a prominent career in the local banking industry. He served as Chairman and President of American Bancorporation, Incorporated, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the American Bank and Trust Company, and Chairman and President of Linwood Securities Company.
~ mother died at Deaconess Hospital in Saint Louis, residing at 1235 west 64th street, Kansas City, oddly enough, later the same address of Charles's 2nd wife Carol's 1st in-laws, whose son he served as Best Man in 1960 Omaha wedding.
He became married his second time in 1969 to a lady who had been elected Queen of the 1958 Ak-Sar-Ben of Omaha, who had two daughters by 1st marriage in 1960, to Clark Schiller Rhoden whom, as afore stated, served as, Best Man, ~ married while Charles was also running his family's candy company, serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1969 to 1981, sold in 1982. A son, Charles Harry Price, III, born of this union. Carol Ann was older sister to two brothers, Walter Clarke, jr whose home we passed each morning after summer of 1984, walking the Naples (Florida) beach south from 33rd street and Gerock Swanson, who, according to her son-in-law Buckley, died in 1996 following a double lung transplant operation.

Charles H. Price II, passed away at his home, in Indian Wells, California on Thursday, January 12. He was born April 1, 1931 in Kansas City to Charles H. Price and Virginia Ogden Price, the family that owned Price Candy Company. He attended Pembroke Country Day School and Wentworth Military Academy followed by the University of Missouri at Columbia.
Charles Price then served in the United States Air Force. After his military discharge, he returned home to Kansas City to oversee the family candy business and begin a successful career in banking and finance. He served as Chairman and President of American Bancorporation, Inc. and was CEO of the American Bank and Trust Company and Linwood Securities.
In 1981, he began a distinguished diplomatic career when then President Ronald Reagan appointed Price as the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium. Two years later, in 1983, he was appointed Ambassador to the Court of St. James's (United Kingdom and Northern Ireland). Together with his wife, Carol, he represented the U.S. with dignity in the aftermath of the bombing of Pan Am 103. He was the primary agent in the development of the very special relationship that existed between President Reagan and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, aka Mrs Denis Thatcher.
Returning home in 1989, he became the CEO of Ameribanc, Inc. and guided the merger with Mercantile Bancorporation, serving as Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 1996. He also served on the boards of Texaco, Inc., the New York Times Company, Sprint, British Airways and Hanson PLC in London. He served as an Advisory Director of The Country Club Bank and as a Trustee of Midwest Research Institute.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Swanson Price, son Charles H. Price III and his wife, Drusiana Sforza Cesarini, London, [step-]daughter Caroline McCallister and her husband John McCallister, Kansas City, [step-]daughter Melissa Carlson and her husband, Buckley Carlson, Washington DC, son Charles Blair Price and wife Lisa of Pleasant Hill, MO, and daughter, Pickette Price, Springfield, MO, and eight grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends all over the world who will miss him.
Burial services will be private. A memorial service will celebrate his life on Friday, January 20, 4:00PM, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on Wornall Road. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Eisenhower Medical Center Foundation, 39000 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, California or the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO.

Charles H. Price II, passed away at his home, in Indian Wells, California on Thursday, January 12. He was born April 1, 1931 in Kansas City to Charles H. Price and Virginia Ogden Price, the family that owned Price Candy Company. He attended Pembroke Country Day School and Wentworth Military Academy followed by the University of Missouri at Columbia.
Charles Price then served in the United States Air Force. After his military discharge, he returned home to Kansas City to oversee the family candy business and begin a successful career in banking and finance. He served as Chairman and President of American Bancorporation, Inc. and was CEO of the American Bank and Trust Company and Linwood Securities.
In 1981, he began a distinguished diplomatic career when then President Ronald Reagan appointed Price as the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium. Two years later, in 1983, he was appointed Ambassador to the Court of St. James's (United Kingdom and Northern Ireland). Together with his wife, Carol, he represented the U.S. with dignity in the aftermath of the bombing of Pan Am 103. He was the primary agent in the development of the very special relationship that existed between President Reagan and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, aka Mrs Denis Thatcher.
Returning home in 1989, he became the CEO of Ameribanc, Inc. and guided the merger with Mercantile Bancorporation, serving as Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 1996. He also served on the boards of Texaco, Inc., the New York Times Company, Sprint, British Airways and Hanson PLC in London. He served as an Advisory Director of The Country Club Bank and as a Trustee of Midwest Research Institute.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Swanson Price, son Charles H. Price III and his wife, Drusiana Sforza Cesarini, London, [step-]daughter Caroline McCallister and her husband John McCallister, Kansas City, [step-]daughter Melissa Carlson and her husband, Buckley Carlson, Washington DC, son Charles Blair Price and wife Lisa of Pleasant Hill, MO, and daughter, Pickette Price, Springfield, MO, and eight grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends all over the world who will miss him.
Burial services will be private. A memorial service will celebrate his life on Friday, January 20, 4:00PM, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on Wornall Road. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Eisenhower Medical Center Foundation, 39000 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, California or the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO.
