Mrs. Vassar attended Piedmont College and was retired from the City of Toccoa, was past owner of Toccoa Industrial Sales and the Jean Shop of Toccoa. In the past few years she worked at Belk and Scotties Drug Store in Hartwell, where she loved meeting and talking with people. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell and was active in the Evangelon Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herndon Russell and her second, John D. Vassar and step-grandson, Nicklaus Vassar.
