AMISH SETTLEMENT LEADER FOUND DEAD

BODY OF MOSES HOCHSTETLER LYING AGAINST CORN CRIB.

WIFE LIGHTED LANTERN AND STARTED SEARCH

Coroner Holds Inquest and Reached Conclusion That Death Was Due To Heart Ailment.
(From Friday's Daily)

Moses Hochstetler, 60, prominent and wealthy and leader in an Amish settlement, was found dead on his farm one and one-half west and a half mile south of Nappanee at 7 o'clock last evening. He had been doing chores at the barn and his wife had preceded him into the house. As Mrs. Hochstetler left him he told her he would be in soon. When he failed to come she lighted a lantern and searching for him found his dead body lying against a corn crib. She rang the dinner bell and summoned the neighbors.

Coroner Mast today held the inquest and found that heart disease caused Hochstetler's demise.

The remains will be buried under Amish auspices next Sunday. Surviving the deceased are his wife and several children.
