Hiram S. Allen married Elizabeth about 1820. She was born circa 1803 in Tennessee. In O. C. Fisher's book, "It Occurred in Kimble", Fisher notes the Allen's came to Texas in 1845 from Mississippi; this is the same year Hiram's youngest child, Dave, was born in Mississippi. Hiram received a land patent in Henderson County Texas which was recorded in 1850. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are also listed in the 1850 census as residents of Henderson County where they were engaged in farming. Hiram died in 1853 and Elizabeth subsequently died in 1856; they are both buried in the King Cemetery, near Aley, in Henderson County. Together they had nine children who were born in Alabama and Mississippi and they all are recognized as residents in the 1850 Henderson County, TX census, with the exception of A. J. Allen; his 1850 residence has not been ascertained but it is believed to be in the same area and he was then married. The H. S. Allen children names were: Jabitha, H. S. Jr, Andrew Jackson, Sarah Elizabeth, Claiborn W., Catharine, Nancy, Mahalia (orMalenia) and Hiram David.
