Bob L. Swearengin died on June 4, 2014, at the age of 95.
He was born in Sparks, OK on November 26, 1918. Bob has been living at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, LA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Swearengin; they were married 68 years. He served with U.S. Army in WWII (1941-1945) with the 1-41 Artillery Unit of the New Orleans National Guard. He served in the Africa/Italy Campaign, and after the war, he settled in Del City, OK. He worked for Tinker AFB for over 40 years in the B-52 section.

After retiring, he became a Master Gardener and taught gardening at OSU Extension, plus volunteered at the Oklahoma Extension. Farming was his passion, and he always wanted to share his knowledge. We asked him once if we had ever taught him anything he did not know? Without hesitation, he said, "No."

He was very active with the Southern Baptist Church in Del City.

He has four surviving children: Bobbie Winkles, Louisiana; Kathy Upchurch, Arizona; Kris Fisher (John), Texas; and Mike Swearengin (Joy), Arizona; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill and Don Swearengin.

The funeral is at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73141, Thursday, June 12, 2014, 11 a.m with Military Honors following the service. Burial will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK. In lieu of flowers, spend time with a veteran or donate to your favorite charity.

Friends and family will gather at Don's Alley, 4601 SE 29th, Del City, OK 73115, Wednesday, June 11, 2013, 5-8 p.m., and following the services Thursday.
