It is with our deepest sympathy that the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department announces that on June 5, 2014, Specialist Matthew H. Walker was killed in action in the Pakita Providence of Afghanistan.

Specialist Walker was serving in the United States Army with Co B 1/502nd Infantry Regiment 2nd Brigade Combat Team 101st Airborne Division. PFC Walker was fatally wounded when an RPG (rocket propelled grenade) exploded near his position.

Matthew Walker is the son of Second District Detective Heather Wooderson, and stepson of Aviation Pilot Richard Wooderson. The Woodersons will be traveling to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to witness the Dignified Transfer.

Dearest grandson of Herbert (Janie) Walker, Barbara Walker, Janis Miles and the late Charles Williams; our dear uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

Services: Visitation at KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road on Sunday, June 15 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral service will be held at Manchester United Methodist Church, 129 Woodsmill Road, Manchester, Missouri. Monday, June 16 at 11:00 AM.

Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions to United Servicemen Organization (U.S.O.), Wounded Warriors Project or Backstoppers greatly appreciated by the family.
