Charles E. Dwyer, Jr.,QMC, U.S. Navy, Ret., 76, of Frederick, MD, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret McGowan Dwyer.

Born May 3, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Eva King Dwyer.

Mr. Dwyer retired, after 20 years, from the U.S. Navy as a Quarter Master Chief. He was a member of the American Legion Post #11. After retirement he worked for 6+ years for Harry Lundeburg School and retired in 2005 from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in Bethesda. Charles always enjoyed helping others, spending time with his family, and working crossword puzzles..

He is survived by his children Deborah Cheshire of New Zealand, Catherine Shook and husband Richard of Thurmont, Brenda Dwyer of Walkersville, and Andrea Poole and husband Allen of Urbana, Seven grandchildren Kristine Davis (Jeffrey), Margaret Cheshire, Adam Shook, Timothy Cheshire, Isabella Cheshire, Kaylan Stackhouse and Haili Stackhouse, siblings JoAnn Stengel of Gaithersburg, Patricia Puls of Catonsville and Charlene Musser of Thurmont. He will be remembered by his longtime companion Louise Traversone. He was preceded in death by a son Charles Dwyer, III, grandchildren Taylor and Tyler Poole, a brother Melvin Dwyer and a sister Andrea Harr.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, June 12, from 3-5 and 7-9:00 pm, where services will be held Friday, June 13, at 11:00 am.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
