Mr. Earnest" Earney" S. Knight

Mr. Earnest S. Knight, 71, of Kissee Mills passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at his residence. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, June 8th in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 9th in the funeral home with Pastor David Beeler officiating. Burial will be in the Dickens Cemetery, Taneyville, MO.

Earnest Samuel Knight was born Tuesday, January 26, 1943 in Taneyville to Earnest Chester and Susan Jane (Gideon) Knight. He attended school in Taneyville. The family moved to Modesto, CA when he was seventeen and he graduated from the Oak Dale High School. In 1959 he met Wilma Allene Williams at a local swimming pool. They were married in 1961 and lived in Modesto. He served as Supervisor for Beatrice Foods for eighteen years. They moved to Kissee Mills in 1984. Earney and his family returned to Taney County in 1984 and fulfilled his life-long dream of owning a farm. He retired in 1986.

Earney had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He was very strong-willed and rarely became angry.. Most of all, he was a hardworker and great provider. As an entrepreneur, he started various businesses. He thoroughly enjoyed farming, gardening, cars, fishing, deer hunting and tinkering. He always looked forward to and enjoyed family gatherings. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Kissee Mills; one son, Ernest Jeffrey Knight and wife, Sheri of Kissee Mills; three daughters, Joyce Barnes and husband, Michael of Kenton, TN, Karen Carrillo and husband, Joe of Poolesville, MD, Brenda Gideon and husband, Jay of Forsyth; three brothers, Donald Knight of Kissee Mills, Bobby Knight of Modesto, CA, Michael Knight and wife Denise of Kissee Mills; three sisters, Donna Walling of Branson, Darlene Smink and husband, Bob of Modesto, CA, Michelle Collins and husband, Harlan of Cedar Creek; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Darrel and Danny Knight and one sister, Francene Burton.
