Mrs. Malinda J. Cummings, who resides with her daughter, Mrs. Olive Toalston at 463 Lincoln Ave., Carrollton, will celebrate her 95th birthday Saturday, June 30. A card shower is planned to make the occasion a happy one for Mrs. Cummings.

Mrs. Melinda Jane Cummings, 97, of Carrollton, second oldest resident of Carroll County, died March 26 after a brief illness. She had resided with a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Toalston at 463 Lincoln Ave. Mrs. Cummings was born in Washington Twp. on June 30, 1861, a daughter of the late Charles and Lydia (Marshall) Ray. She was a life resident of the county and was a member of Mt. Olivet Church of Christ. She was married to Franklin J. Cummings on February 9, 1882. He died in 1928.
In addition to Mrs. Toalston, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Mervin C. Marshall of route 2, Salineville and Mrs. Durwood J. Newbold of Mechanicstown; two sons, Emmett of route 4, Carrollton and Harry R. Cummings of Mechanicstown; 20 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Three sons, George, Foster and Elmer Cummings, five brother and four sisters preceded her in death. Services were held Saturday in the Allmon Funeral Home with Rev. F. W. Bush officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet church cemetery.
