Gladys E. Bettis, 85, of Carlinville died Monday, May 27, 2002, at Carlinville Area Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1916, in Morgan County, the daughter of Charley and Izetta Crawford Bartz. She married Harvey Bettis in Carlinville in 1973.
Mrs. Bettis worked at Prairie Glove Factory in Carlinville, retiring in 1973, after 20 years.
Survivors: husband, Harvey; four daughters, Betty (husband, James) West of Alpha, Bonnie (husband, Norman) Koehler and Jean Schuetz, both of Auburn and Carol (husband, Johnny) Lee of Pensacola, Fla.; five stepchildren, Nancy (husband, Jim) Schien and Jack (wife, Joy) Bettis, both of Carlinville, Jim (wife, Mhona) Bettis of Kewanee, Dianna Carothers of Peoria and Ken (wife, Dottie) Bettis of Galesburg; nine grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Irvin Bartz of Gasden, Ala., and Sidney Bartz of Murrayville; two sisters, Ruby Hunt of Waverly and Edith Manning of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, the Rev. Martin Miller officiating. Burial: Union Chapel Cemetery, near Girard.
