Lyman P. Case, son of Stephen and Salona Case was born April 5th, 1844, at Hartford, Licking County, Ohio. He came to Minnesota with his parents by ox team in 1855 and settled on a farm in Orion, a farm his father pre-empted from the government. He received his education at the country schools and at the high school at Chatfield. He was married, September 16th, 1869, in Berlin, Steele county, Minnesota, to Miss Addie L. Sheldon. Two children were born to them: Mrs. F. A. Seymour(1) of Wilmer, B.C., and Sheldon L. of Chatfield. The family lived on a farm in Orion till 1906 when they moved to Chatfield. There are two grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Case, passed away Nov. 20, 1915, since which time Mr. Case has resided with his son. Mr. Case was the oldest mason in Meridian Lodge, No. 56. He was also county commissioner in Olmstead county for five years during which time the good roads movement was started. A movement in which he was deeply interested, and for which he diligently labored. He departed this life Saturday, June 11th, 1921, having attained the age of 77 years, 2 months and 6 days. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Monday from the Presbyterian church, Rev. J. D. Gibb, pastor of the church conduction the services and he was laid to rest besides the remains of his wife in the Chatfield cemetery.
