Mrs. William J. Bruchmann, 52, of 1328 45th Ave., Rock Island, died yesterday in her home after an illness of four years. Prior to her illness she served as secretary of Central Presbyterian Church for 15 years.
Services will be held at 3 Wednesday afternoon in Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island, with the Rev. Henry warkentin, pastor of Central Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 this evening.
The former Ruth L. Chambers was born Nov. 9, 1906, in Rock Island, the daughter of Lorenzo D. and Bertha A. Buffum Chambers. She was reared in Edgington rural schools and was graduated from Rock Island High School. She had attended Brown's Business College.
Before moving to Rock Island in 1920, where she has since resided, Mrs. Bruchmann resided in Taylor Ridge a year, in Edgington for 12 years and in Kansas a year.
She was married to William J. Bruchmann June 28, 1930, in the Church of Peace, Rock Island. Mr. Bruchmann is employed by Melvin McKay Co., Rock Island.
A member of Central Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Bruchmann was affiliated with Rock Island YWCA and with Margaret Tonkin Guild, Women's Assn. and the Couple's Club of the church.
Survivors include the widower, a son, William J., at home; her mother, Mrs. Bertha A. Chambers, at home; a sister, Mrs. Harold J. Summers, Rock Island, and a brother, Don B. Chambers, at home; and six nieces and nephews.
Her father preceded her in death.
Memorials may be sent to the Central Presbyterian memorial fund.
