Donna loved the Lord, and He called her to Himself Tuesday afternoon from her home in rural Morrow County. She was 68.
Born Donna Lou Roe November 14, 1945 in Camp Dix, Kentucky, Donna was the only daughter born to James J. and Olive Marie (Barrett) Roe. She had lived in the area most of her life and had retired from Tasco.
She was a member of North Woodbury Freewill Baptist Church, and though she had no children of her own, she became a "church mom" to them. Donna dearly loved her church family, and they dearly loved her. She loved to be in service to the Lord by serving her church family – often from the kitchen: her chicken and dumplings were the very best! Described as a "little angel" Donna's soft-spoken testimonies in church gave a glimpse to the sweetest heart and the true Spirit of God. Her home-going creates a void of hugs and affection within her church family, who will dearly miss her.
She is survived by her husband Joe Steelman, whom she married May 12, 1965; brothers Larry Roe of Lexington and Clinton (Janice) Roe of Wheelersburg; and "a bunch" of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Ernest, Hubert, Alva and Benson Roe.
Friends may call Friday, June 6, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Rob Ratcliff will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
