Ruth J. Polston, 75, of Shallotte, NC died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the SECU Lower Cape Fear Hospice "Brunswick House", Bolivia, NC. Born in Brunswick County, NC on March 17, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Zula Jenrette. Ruth was a DJ with WVCB Radio in Shallotte many years ago and retired from Brunswick Electric Membership Corp. Ruth was an avid reader and truly enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Her great love was her little Yorkie, Gunner. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husbands, Tommy S. Russ and Marvin Franklin Polston, a daughter, Rebecca Lay Russ and a brother, Donald Jenrette. Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Russ of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Dick Jenrette (Peg) of Ponchatoula, LA; two sisters, Jean Little (Norman) of Little River, SC, Pat Fox of Crescent City, CA and two grandchildren, Sam and Gabe. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 6, 2014 in the Chapel of Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Rex Gore, Milton Coleman, Joe Pace, Terry Little, Bobby Davis and Carl Stanley.
