Nathaniel Austin McDonald (b. ca. 1857) was the son of Daniel McDaniel and Elizabeth J. Rooks. His father served as a private in the Confederate States Army and died on April 3, 1862 in Suffolk, Virginia. His mother later married Riley Moat.

Nathaniel went by the nickname of Crick or Kirk. He changed his surname from McDaniel to McDonald sometime around 1900.

He married Martha Ann Davis, the daughter of Robert M. Davis and Mary E. Allen, on March 9, 1878 in Jackson County, Georgia. She passed away on March 14, 1898. His second wife was Mary Blankenship. She went by the nickname of Minnie or Mina.

MORTUARY
Kirk McDonald. Kirk McDonald, aged 56 years, died early Wednesday morning at his residence, 22 Gaskill Street. Surviving him are his wife and five children. Funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence and the body will be sent to Sylvester for interment.
