Mrs. Rush was born November 23, 1929 in Shelbyville, Texas to Jack and Atta (Sample) Strickland, and died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at her residence. She had resided in Angelina County most of her life.
She was a devoted wife of 53 years and a loving mother and grandmother. She opened her home and heart to all who entered her life. Her greatest joy was her family, not only hers but many others. Her funny, witty personality and beautiful smile brought laughter and sunshine to those around her. She made everyone feel loved with her big heart, words of wisdom, and her delicious cooking...especially biscuits!
Mrs. Rush was a faithful member of Burke United Methodist Church and was a great inspiration, setting a Godly example to all. Her strength and faith were a shining light in the darkest of days.
She was a homemaker for most of her life, but worked outside the home at Perry Brothers, D.H. Walker's, Piggly Wiggly and Brookshire Brothers.
